My Story

The business beginning
As a kid growing up in Colorado, our house was always full of the drama that came from owning a business. Because my parents owned Durango Roofing, I knew what overhead and profit were before my first pimple. After breaking free from the family business, my first few years as a rebellious teen allowed me to work under two businesses owners that grew their businesses more than 5 (successful) locations. I soaked up as much wisdom as possible from these successful business owners before packing my bags and heading to California when I was 18.
I believe I can fly
Cutting my teeth in California, I got a job prototyping toys and pitching those toys for licensing to large companies like Tyco, Interactive Toy Concepts and Radioshack. This gave me insight into the product development, manufacturing and licensing world.

That’s right, I made and pitched cool stuff like this! Cool side note – At this time accelerometers were expensive so in our prototypes we used dimmable light knobs with weights to control the signal to the board.

After I got married and moved to Norcal in 2008, the economic crash meant that I was job hunting with hundreds of other qualified professionals. I had a wife to feed and companies weren’t hiring so I took the risk and turned my hobby (photography) into a business. I also started an industry blog that gave me first hand experience with growing traffic, monetizing revenue and digital marketing. While blogging about photography, I built a successful business photographing weddings and dogs for Dog Fancy. I know, it sounds weird but any port in a storm right?
Revenge of the nerds
The more I marketed and blogged, the more I fell in love with Digital Marketing. I freelanced and blogged until the opportunity opened up and I joined the Nerds on Call team as Digital Marketing Director. I was tasked with developing a multi-location strategy and building the team to execute those strategies. I spent most of my time at Nerds working on everything from SEO and social media to flyers and phone books. We had our hands in it all. During my time there, I not only won the company an international SEO award but our “little marketing department that could” helped Nerds land on the Inc. 5000 list a few years in a row. This not only gave me extensive experience in project management and marketing strategy, but it helped me develop strategies that work on a multi-location basis. The more I got involved with strategy and implementation, the more my job pulled me into helping develop new verticals for the company. Other companies started seeing the work I was doing at Nerds and I started getting requests for consultations.
The Noble approach
smallwhite In early 2012, I started Noble Creative with Bryant Jaquez as my co-founder. The goal of Noble was to create innovative marketing strategies for companies and in most cases, help them implement those strategies. We had the opportunity to work or consult for hundreds of businesses and found ourselves working on projects for companies all over the world. Our primary focus was building marketing strategies and multi-channel marketing for companies between $2-$75 million. socialproof
A roof over our head

During a trip back to Colorado to see the family, I found out the family business wasn’t doing so well. After some long conversations with my wife, we made the hard decision shut down a majority of Noble and move to Colorado. In 2015, I took the position of CEO of the family company and things have been going very well. We effectively tripled revenue and dropped our yearly turnover from 75% to 10%. While managing the Roofing Company, I ran marketing projects through Noble and consultations through my personal brand. Somehow, I also found the time to write a book and begin building training tools and content for teaching others how to manage their businesses.
